The Coquitlam Express are the 2014 Fred Page Cup Champions after a 4-3 win over the Vernon Vipers on Tuesday night in Coquitlam.
The Express competled the four game sweep in a slightly different fashion, scoring the first goal of the game, rather than falling behind 2-0 like they did in the series first three games of the series. In the end it was the Express hoisting the Cup as League Champions.
The Train opened the scoring after just three minutes of play as Jace Henning took a pass from Cody Boyd and rifled it past Austin Smith.
Canon Pieper gave the Express their second one goal lead at 7:15 of the second period, with assists going to Bo Pieper and Mark Whiteley.
A pair of Vernon goals had the Express right where they have been so comforable this entire series, trailing going into the third period.
For the fourth straight game the Train found a way to keep rolling towards victory, with Bo Pieper knotting the game at three early in the final frame, setting the stage for Adam Rockwood's solo.
Once again it was the incredible Express penalty kill as Rockwood broke in alone to score the series ending goal. The intial shot by the Express forward rang off the post but the puck somehow found its way to the back of the net, sending the Express to Dauphin Manitoba for the Western Canadians
