Busted. Express 2 – Chiefs 3

A quick 24 hours later and Round 1 game 1 got its immediate rematch as the Shaw BCHL Playoffs kept on rolling in Coquitlam with the Chilliwack Chiefs coming to town for game 2. The first period was exactly the same as last game, held scoreless throughout 20 with 8 minutes of penalties dished out.

The second period started off more energetic than the first with Mateo Dixon finding the back of the net for the game’s opening goal 7 minutes into the period. Mateo Mrsic of the Chiefs did not appreciate that as he scored just 3 minutes later to tie the game and they did not stop there. 8 minutes later the Chiefs scored their 2nd goal of the game off the stick of Tim Delay to give the Chiefs a 2-1 lead after 2.

The third period was rambunctious, rough and gritty. The epitome of playoff hockey in most cases. Continuous end to end hockey with big hits and it wasn’t until there was 3 minutes and 24 seconds left on the clock that the lead was erased. Tyler Kopff put his clutch pants on and put the puck home past Austin McNicholas to force overtime. The score sat at 2-2 after 60.

Overtime was long awaited, highly anticipated but short lived as Brian Morse scored from a big wrist shot snipe from the blue line past a heavy screen in front of Brady Smith just 2 minutes and 10 seconds into the overtime frame.

The Express are looking to bounce back after falling down 2-0 early in the series on April 4th and April 5th at 7:00 pm at the Chilliwack Coliseum.
Come on out to the game and support our boys on the road!
