Coquitlam acquire Rivermen Captain, Chan and former Express, Frost in exchange for Colwell and futures

The Coquitlam Express have announced the acquisition of 2006-born forward Matthew Frost and 2005-born forward Tyler Chan from the Langley Rivermen in exchange for 2006-born forward Cale Colwell and future considerations.

Frost, a Boston College commit, posted 20 points in 28 games last season and previously appeared in 15 games with the Express. Chan, who served as captain of the Rivermen, has recorded 50 points during his BCHL career and is known for his relentless, gritty style of play.

“Bringing in players like Frost and Chan puts us in a strong position moving forward,” said Tali Campbell, President of Hockey Operations and General Manager. “We’re very familiar with Frost — he played with us for part of the 2023-24 season and we believe he has the potential to produce at over a point-per-game pace. Chan is someone we’ve battled against for the last couple seasons; he’s tough to play against and brings the kind of leadership and compete level we value highly.”

“I’d also like to thank Cale Colwell for his time with the Express. He’s a great young man and a talented player, and we’re confident he’ll thrive in Langley. He’ll definitely be missed in our room.”

Colwell suited up for 84 games with the Express over two seasons, putting up 21 points. He now heads to his hometown team for his fourth BCHL campaign.
