The Burnaby/Coquitlam Express Junior “A” Hockey Club is doing an extensive search for a
Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations
This is a full time position based in Coquitlam BC reporting to the President and General Manager. The successful candidate will be a positive and professional leader with strong communication skills. Proper hockey certification, strong technically in hockey development and knowledge of electronic communication systems are requirements.
The primary job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, coaching, recruiting/retention, and public relation duties.
Coaching/Director of Hockey Operations
- Lead a highly competitive Junior “A” program
- Instill and facilitate solid team and individual goals
- Formulate and execute a full season plan utilizing all aspects of conditioning and preparation strategies
- Adhere to a high standard of personal and professional conduct consistent with the expectations of the Burnaby/Coquitlam Express and the BCHL
- Assist in Prospect Camp, Hockey Academy, hockey schools and skill development sessions
- Clearly understand the British Columbia Hockey League Operations and Discipline documents, BC Hockey and Hockey Canada rules.
Recruitment/Retention
- Create and maintain an active and focused recruitment plan
- Sound organization through planning and delegation
- Document communication with prospective athletes and their families in a concise manner
- Promote a positive and attractive program to prospective recruits
- Maintain positive relations and communication with Junior “A” and Junior “B” teams along with minor hockey teams and associations
- Maintain positive communication with NCAA and CIS schools and NHL personnel
Public Relations
- Represent the Burnaby/Coquitlam Express in a friendly and courteous manner to colleagues, officials, players, staff, volunteers and the public
- Work with school and community groups in supportive and fund raising ventures
- Communicate successfully with all parties and associated with the team's operations
