Express complete trade for Arlo Merritt and future considerations for Massimo Rizzo.

Coquitlam, BC –  The Coquitlam Express have completed a trade with the Chilliwack Chiefs, acquiring 2001-born forward Arlo Merritt and future considerations in exchange for 2001-born forward Massimo Rizzo.

Merritt hails from Halifax, Nova Scotia and is entering into his second full BCHL season. He is committed to Ohio State University and played his rookie campaign last season with the Chiefs, scoring 14 times while adding 7 assists for a total of 21 points.

“Merritt is someone with incredible talent who we think is going to fill a hole we currently have on our roster.” said Dan Cioffi, Express head coach.

Meanwhile, Rizzo joins the Chilliwack Chiefs after completing his third BCHL season, tallying a total of 44 points in 42 games last season in an Express uniform.

“It’s a very difficult situation any time you look at trading a player of Massimo’s ability and character” said Tali Campbell, vice president of the Express.  “However, this trade provides  him an opportunity to complete his fourth BCHL season while strengthening our roster with the addition of Arlo.”

Merritt is expected to join the Express this week and in the lineup as the team prepares to take on the Langley Rivermen on Friday.
