Express hosting teams first-ever Pride Night

The British Columbia Hockey League’s Coquitlam Express announced today that they will host the teams first-ever Pride Night on Friday, January 27th when it hosts the Cowichan Valley Capitals at 7:00pm.

In support of the Express’ mission to drive social change and foster inclusivity, their first-ever Pride Night will highlight the work many people, groups and organizations are doing to promote inclusion and acceptance in the community.
“Everyone is created equal and deserves to be treated with the same respect, regardless of their gender, sexual orientation or how they self-identity,” said Tali Campbell, chief operating officer and general manager of the Coquitlam Express “Everyone has the right to feel accepted wherever they go, and we have a duty to our players, our fans and ourselves to be the voice of acceptance and to showcase to our community that everyone is respected and welcome here.”
The Express are expected to release specific details of Pride Night in coming days as they are working with all their partners on plans including the City of Coquitlam.
“The ultimate goal we have is to evolve locker rooms and spectator culture,” said Campbell “We need to work together on inclusion policies, work together on strengthening our relationships within our community and increase participation among all members of our community.”
