FINAL: Bandits Take Down Express in Overtime

The Brooks Bandits have defeated the Coquitlam Express 4-3 in BCHL action.

Coquitlam got prepared to wrap up their lone Alberta trip of the season, as they took on the Brooks Bandits. Coquitlam would open up the scoring 12:13 into the contest as Liam Loughery blasted home a point shot for his 1st of the season to put the Express up 1-0. Ryan Parker would stop all 10 shots he’d face in the opening frame as Coquitlam would take a 1 goal lead into the 2nd period.

Coquitlam padded their lead 8:20 into the 2nd as Nolan Dupont potted his 7th of the season to give the Express a 2 goal lead. Brooks would see a chance to get on the board with their 1st man advantage of the game, but Coquitlam would kill it off. And minutes later Coquitlam would get one of their own. With George Stavrianeas getting on the board to put Coquitlam up 3-0. Parker would finish the period with 23 total saves in the game. As the Express would head to the 2nd intermission up by 3 goals.

With the third beginning, Coquitlam aimed to snap their 3 game losing streak. But the Bandits got on the board just 26 seconds into the final frame off the 9th of the season from Liam Fitzpatrick. Frantisek Albrecht would get the Bandits back within 1 with his 4th of the season. Making it a 3-2 Express lead. Coquitlam looked to hold onto the lead, but the Bandits would tie it up with Harry Ahlberg evened things up with his 5th on year. Coquitlam got a look on the powerplay, to no avail. As they’d head to overtime for the 2nd time this season.

Brooks would see their 4th powerplay of the game in overtime, but Coquitlam was able to kill it off getting the game back to 3 on 3. Ryan Parker would make key saves in the extra frame for the Express, as part of his 47 save performance. But the Bandits would complete the come back off the 2nd of the night from Frantisek Albrecht. Taking it 4-3 in overtime.

Coquitlam returns to action at the Train Station Friday, December 5th to take on the Powell River Kings for the first time this season.
