The Nanaimo Clippers have defeated the Coquitlam Express 3-2 in BCHL action.
Wrestling Night came to the Train Station, as the Express faced the Nanaimo Clippers for the first time this season. Carson McGinley would open the scoring at 9:10 of the first period with a powerplay goal from the slot. The Clippers would respond soon after as Owen Davies would get his first of the season to tie the game at 1. Both Ryan Parker and Eliot Seguin-Lescarbeau would hold strong for the remainder of the first sending the game tied 1-1 into the first intermission.
The Clippers would score early in the 2nd. Samuel Boisvert’s 5th of the season would put Nanaimo up 2-1 just 1:10 into the 2nd period. After a 5 minute boarding penalty to Carson McGinley, and a tripping call to Todd Kilpela the Express would be down on a 5 on 3 and the Clippers would cash in on Jack Rimmer’s 7th on the season. The 2nd would see 4 on 4 action later in the period, but neither the Express or Clippers could find a goal. Sending the Clippers up 3-1 heading into the 3rd period.
The Express have been no strangers to a big third period at the Train Station this season. And would get a golden opportunity to get one back off a double minor high sticking call. And they wouldn’t let it pass by. As Cole Bishop would rip one home for the 8th of the season, bringing the Express back within 1. Coquitlam would dig for the eluding tying goal, calling their timeout. And pulling Ryan Parker for the extra skater. But the Clippers would hold on to hand the Express just their 2nd loss on home ice this season.
Coquitlam returns to action tomorrow night, November 22nd. As they make their first trip to the Chilliwack Coliseum this season to take on the Chiefs.
