Final. Express 4 – Kings 8

The Powell River Kings came into town to face the Coquitlam Express for the final home season game at the Train Station for the 2022-2023 season. The Express were looking to go 4-0 on their final home stand of the season but their goals were quickly foiled as they fell down 1-0 just 4 minutes into the game from Alexi Van Houtte-Cachero’s 13th of the season. Things continued to get worse before they got better as it was 2-0 midway through the period before the Express answered back to cut the lead in half with Mirko Buttazoni’s final regular season goal this season, also his 20th of the season. The Express trailed 2-1 after 1.

The Express would tie the game on Tyler Kopff’s short handed tally just 4:41 into the second. Cameroyn Symons would take personal offence to that as he proceeded to score two goals of his own in just under 4 minutes to give the Kings a 2 goal lead once again. Luke Vardy quickly brought the Express to back within one only for the lead to once again be extended to two goals just 1 minute and 28 seconds later by Parker Lalonde. The Kings led the Express 5-3 after 40.

Parker Lalonde would start the third the same way he ended the second and score his second of the game to extend the lead to 6-3 before Cameroyn Symons would score his 3rd of the night to give himself a hattrick and the Kings a 4 goal lead with 13 seconds left. The Express would go on to lose the game 8-4 in regulation for their final regular season home game of the season.
