The Coquitlam Express have defeated the Surrey Eagles 7-0 in BCHL action.
It was Halloween Night at the Train Station as the Express took on the Surrey Eagles for their 3rd meeting of the season, and first meeting with the Eagles at the Train Station. Coquitlam would run into a some penalty troubles in the first with a total of 5 penalties in the opening frame. But after killing off a couple penalties Erik Wittwer would open the scoring with his 3rd on the season with Shaenen Long grabbing his first career BCHL point with a primary assist. Coquitlam would take that 1-0 lead into the intermission.
Coquitlam wouldn’t slow down as Luke Pfoh would score just 35 seconds into the 2nd frame, with Nate Crema grabbing his 1st of 5 points on the night. Crema would pot his first of 2 on the night as he’d get a powerplay marker at 5:44. Putting Coquitlam up 3-0 just over 5 minutes into the 2nd. Cole Bishop would stay hot getting his 3rd goal in his last 2 games, to add to the lead with that goal coming just 57 seconds after Crema’s goal. The Express would then be awarded a powerplay a few minutes later, and it’d be Crema getting his 2nd of the night to make it 5-0 Express. After a spirted fight from Cole Bishop after an awkward hit on Will Distad, Coquitlam would use that momentum to add another as Christian Maro would put the Express 6-0 on a 5 on 3 man advantage. Coquitlam would wrap up the period with a 5 goal explosion leading it 6-0 after 2 periods.
Things would settle down in third as just 2 penalties aside from either team, that would be a roughing call on Ivanusec and Jacobs that would send the game to 4 on 4. The Express would get 1 goal out of the 3rd as Shaenen Long would rip home his first career BCHL goal to put Coquitlam up 7-0. Ryan Parker would shut the door for 21 saves for his first shutout as a member of the Express as Coquitlam would take home their 10th win of the season.
Coquitlam returns to the Train Station next Friday, November 7th to take on the Chilliwack Chiefs for Remembrance Day Celebration at the Train Station.
