Game Day! Coquitlam Express vs Powell River Kings (4/21/21)

The Coquitlam Express are back from a two-day break and ready to get back to work tonight in a late-night meeting with the Powell River Kings. The visiting Express are looking for revenge against a Kings squad that secured a 4-2 victory over them back on the 18th. Puck drop is at 8:00pm.

Tonight’s contest marks the sixth meeting between these clubs so far in this pod season – the Kings currently have an edge in the series 3-2. It’s been a high-scoring affair, with no game seeing less than six goals. With that being said, no game has been a blowout with three of the meetings ending in a one-goal game and two of them resulting in a two-goal margin. It’s been an evenly matched series with the exception of special teams – in their last three clashes, the Kings have outscored the Express on the man advantage 5-1. It’s been an undeniable factor considering the closeness of all of these games.

It will be a different-looking roster tonight, as the Express will be without both Ryan Tattle (injury) & Danny Pearson (suspended), who compose two-thirds of the top line and contribute a lot offensively. A player to watch tonight is Christian MacDougall, who has recently come off of an injury himself and has now slid into a left wing position on that aforementioned top line. The Canisius College commit has two points on the season in seven contests, but has excelled on the penalty kill and certainly shown shades of offensive flare. It will be interesting to see him in more of an offensive role tonight.

Get off the tracks – a train is coming through!
