Home ice clinched! Express 6 – Capitals 1

The Cowichan Valley Capitals cruised to town this evening for their final regular season meeting with the Coquitlam Express, the first of a final 2 game weekend for the home team.

The game started quick for the Express as they took the lead just 7 minutes and 3 seconds into the first period from Ethan Rosenoff for his 4th of the season. Just under 10 minutes later they extended their lead to 2 with Coco Armstrong’s 11th of the season. Evan Brown piled on for his 7th of the year to make it a 3-0 after 1 period. Coquitlam heavily outshot Cowichan 16-11 in the first frame.

Cowichan tallied their first of the game midway through the second period but that would be their only goal of the game as Kai Dunits scored his 8th. Cowichan would still trail 3-1 after 2. Coquitlam would pile on more in the third as they would double their goal total for the game. Luke Vardy scored just over 2 minutes into the period, followed by Tyler Kopff’s 20th of the season just 48 seconds later to make it 5-1. Blake Setter would extend the lead to 6-1 for the final.

The Coquitlam Express will return to the Train Station for the final time of the regular season on March 26th to take on the Powell River Kings at 3pm.
