COQUITLAM, BC – Coquitlam Express President Mark Pettie announced that the beneficiary of the September 23, 2018 game honouring the Humboldt Broncos will go to Wade MacLeod and his family. MacLeod, a Coquitlam native, spent two seasons in the British Columbia Hockey League with the Merritt Centennials from 2005-07 before going onto play at Northeastern University. Recently, MacLeod has been diagnosed with a Grade 3 Glioblastoma tumour on his brain and is now preparing for his fourth surgery in less than five years and will no longer be able to provide for his family especially with the additional costs of treatments and prescription medication he will have to take for his entire life.

"As the 2018-19 season begins our fellow junior hockey brothers from Humboldt will be honoured across the country, we want to dedicate a night to them while helping someone in our own hockey community who is in need of our support. Wade has a young family and had plans to play in Europe this year until this latest cancer diagnosis. The power of the hockey community has been on full display for our country to watch recently in Humboldt.” said Petite. "We felt we could bring that spirit of giving to Coquitlam for one night and help someone who rode the buses just like those kids and now needs help to support his real life teammates, his wife and young daughter, as he fights again against brain cancer." he added.

Pre-sale fundraising tickets are available until September 22, 2018 for a discount price of $10 are available at our local community partners: Innovative Fitness Port Moody and Planet Ice as well as Mariner Brewing.  $5 of advance ticket sales bought  will go to the MacLeod family.
