On Thursday, September 3rd the Burnaby Express took part in an exhibition game against the Powell River Kings. It was the first game of this caliber to be played in the Gibsons & Area Arena and the fans came out in full force to support it.
The afternoon started off with a road hockey game that involved the local kids and players from both teams. Then an impromptu signing session had the Express players autographing sticks and was followed by an on-ice skate with fans and players.
The teams took the ice at 5:05 to play in front of a packed house and they didn't disappoint the crowd of over 500. The fast paced game was full of aggression and the boys showed that they're ready for the 2009-2010 season.
Thanks to the people of Gibsons for supporting this event, we look forward to the opportunity to do it again.
