Dan Cioffi steps down as Head Coach

Coquitlam, BC – The Coquitlam Express Junior A Hockey Club and Dan Cioffi announce that Dan will be stepping down as Head Coach and Assistant General Manager effective immediately to focus on his family and pursuing a new opportunity.

Cioffi was hired as Head Coach last year during the COVID-19 Pandemic and led the team to a 8-3 record in the exhibition season before being shut down on November 7th.

“It has been a roller coaster season that has taken an emotional toll on all players, staff and families associated with our team. It has been a tremendous honour to have gotten to know and work with each athlete and staff in our dressing room. We had an outstanding returning core from the season prior that had brought their championship habits and expectations which led the way. I can’t thank those players enough. I would also like to thank all our staff for their constant care, passion and work ethic. Thus includes Ryan Hollweg who has been a big part of our teams success and development in this short time. I wish nothing but the best for everyone as they move forward pursuing their goals.”
“We want to thank Dan for his service the last year in helping our organization through the toughest times making sure our players had the best development possible.” said Tali Campbell, Express Vice President and General Manager “It’s never easy having changes within your organization but we will be now on the look for the next Head Coach of our club.”
The Coquitlam Express would again like to thank Dan and his family and wish him the best in his future endeavours.
The process of finding a new Head Coach will begin immediately while the club is expected to announce an Interim Head Coach within days.
