Express Management are Focused, Confident Heading Into BCHL Trade Deadline

With the BCHL trade deadline just one week away, the Coquitlam Express are approaching the stretch run with clarity and purpose. President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Tali Campbell says the organization likes where the group stands — but also knows the next few days are critical in shaping a playoff-ready roster.

“We’re happy with our group overall,” Campbell said. “We’ve made a few recent deals that I think address some areas we were struggling in, and we feel those moves are already helping stabilize our lineup. The goal was to add pieces that complement what we already have, not overhaul who we are.”

Campbell emphasized that internal growth remains just as important as roster adjustments. For the Express, the next step isn’t just about personnel — it’s about commitment.

“As a group, buying in is going to be key,” Campbell explained. “Systems, habits, accountability — that’s what wins at this time of year. Talent matters, but belief and consistency matter more. We need everyone pulling in the same direction every single night.”

The message inside the room is clear: the Express are building toward something bigger than a deadline splash.

“We’re serious about winning,” Campbell said. “Every decision we’re making right now is about putting our players in the best position to succeed down the stretch. We believe in this team. We believe in the work they’ve put in. Now it’s about sharpening the details and pushing each other to another level.”

While speculation always surrounds deadline week, Campbell says the organization is calm and focused.

“We’re evaluating everything, but we’re not chasing deals,” he said. “If there’s a move that makes us better and fits our culture, we’ll explore it. If not, we trust the group we have. The foundation is strong.”

With playoff hockey approaching and the deadline clock ticking, the Express are leaning into a mindset that blends confidence with urgency — a balance Campbell believes defines winning teams.

“This is the fun part of the season,” he added. “Pressure is a privilege. Our job is to embrace it.”
