Express To Honour Coquitlam Comets

The Coquitlam Express Junior ‘A’ Hockey Club is proud to announce that their November 22nd game against the Penticton Vees will be dedicated to local hockey builder, Mr. Sandy Michie, and the original Coquitlam Junior Hockey franchise, the Comets.

Mr. Sandy Michie was the long-time Owner and General Manager of the Comets, who were members of the Pacific Coast Junior Hockey League from 1974-1979. In 1979, the Pacific Coast League merged with the British Columbia Hockey League, where the Comets also competed until 1981.

The Express will show homage for Comets Alumni players, volunteers and Mr. Michie by donning replica Comets jerseys circa 1975. Kids/Students (under 18yrs) who wear a jersey get in free!

The Vees will be a tough opponent to face in the Poirier Sports and Leisure Complex. They are sitting at the top of the Interior Division and will be looking to cement their position with two other teams in the division only a point behind.

Meanwhile the Express with the second most goals scored in the league will be trying to top the league in that category as they face the Vees. With Bo Pieper on a 5 game assist streak, they will be hoping that he can continue to contribute to push the Express ahead. They will also be looking to their 84.55% penalty killing ranked third in the league to keep the Vees power play at bay, in what will be a great special teams battle.

Express fans and Coquitlam Comets Alumni players, volunteers & friends are encouraged to contact Jordan Herbison through the Coquitlam Express Office or via e-mail at: jordan@coquitlamexpress.ca for more information.
