FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
HOCKEY FIGHTS CANCER
Coquitlam, BC February 28, 2012: The Coquitlam Express are dedicating their March 9th home game to the Marconato family as their youngest son Marko, age 12, fights the battle of his life against bone cancer.
Marko is a goalie with the Port Coquitlam Minor Hockey Association Peewee A1 Pirates and would love nothing more than to get back in net as quickly as possible. As Marko undergoes treatment at Children’s Hospital, the Express will donate a percentage of ticket sales from their final regular season home game on Friday, March 9th versus Chilliwack.
“We as a family are so grateful to the Express Hockey Club as well as the Community for their support through this difficult journey. It is people and organizations like you that make a difference every day to Marko's road to recovery.
We are truly so blessed to be amongst such a great Community that has rallied around us. We are simply so thankful to everyone involved, we are at a loss for words.”
The Marconato Family
The community is encouraged to get their friends and family together to attend this game and show their support for the family. To help raise money you can participate in the intermission Frisbee toss, purchase a t-shirt or raffle ticket, bid on the silent auction, or simply make a donation. Express forward John Siemer will be shaving his head during the 1st intermission and donating to the cancer society in support of Marko’s fight. If you are unable to attend the game, a trust account has been set-up for the Marconato family at the Bank of Montreal, 2564 Shaughnessy Street, Port Coquitlam.
