Hot Goaltender Up to the Task

Despite an impressive offensive effort by the hometown Express, Spruce Kings goaltender Alex Murray was able to hold the fort for a 6-0 Prince George win on Wednesday night.

The Express offense came out of the gates humming, as they dominated scoring chances and time of possession throughout the 1st Period. Prince George was able to capitalize on their limited opportunities. Leading scorer, Chad Staley, opened the games scoring with a seeing-eye wrist shot from the left boards that found a hole to the short side of Pierce Dushenko. Two late period powerplays would result in two more Prince George goals.

Coquitlam’s offense turned up the forechecking pressure and combined with their speed, they were able to create a number of odd man scoring opportunities. Alex Murray made a number of sly pad saves with the ability to turn the rebounds out of harms way.

The Prince George forwards were able to net 3 more goals in the 3rd Period, include a 3rd powerplay marker. They finished the night 3 for 5 with the man advantage.
