The Coquitlam Express are proud to announce their third annual #HockeyTalks Mental Health Awareness Game to be held on Friday, October 11th, as they face off against the Langley Rivermen. This important event aims to raise awareness about mental health within the community, break the stigma surrounding mental health discussions, and provide valuable resources for those in need.
As part of the initiative, the Coquitlam Express will introduce a range of activities and special features, including:
- Helmet Decals: Express players will wear special helmet decals to show solidarity and support for mental health awareness.
- Warmup Shirts: Players will sport custom-designed warmup shirts that promote mental health awareness, fostering open dialogue among athletes and fans alike.
- Information and Resources: Fans attending the game will have access to mental health information and resources. We will be working with local mental health organizations like Kids Help Phone to provide support materials at the game to raise awareness and encourage those in need to seek help.
“Our Hockey Talks game is one of the most important events we host each season,” said Express General Manager Tali Campbell. “We are committed to doing our part in the fight to end the stigma around mental health, and we hope this event encourages meaningful conversations and helps connect fans with valuable resources.”
The #HockeyTalks Mental Health Awareness Game is part of the NHL league-wide initiative to raise awareness for mental health and provide a platform for teams, players, and fans to come together and support this vital cause.
