Last week Coach Jon Calvano led the 1997s Jr Express team to an undefeated record of 6-0 at the Beantown Summer Tour. This tournament wasn't just about the hockey; it was also about the education. Coach Jon Calvano set up a tour to the local Universities (Boston College, Boston University, Northeastern, Harvard, and University of New Hampshire) during these meetings the university coaches and personal talked to the players and parents about each individual school. In between visiting Fenway Park and the numerous of universities, Jon set up a information seminar with former NHLPA President Paul Kelly. Paul Kelly and his team at College Hockey Inc, talked to the players and parents about College Hockey, recruitment and the benefits of taking the Junior Hockey route.
The Jr Express played the Shamrocks in the finals and won 4-2 Jon spoke highly of the players, "I am very proud of the kids, they played with heart and showed class on and off the ice" . The Coquitlam Express would like to congratulate Coach Jon Calvano and the Jr. Express on their success.
