In the one other meeting between these teams this season, Salmon Arm was able to edge Coquitlam 4-3 in a back and forth contest. All-star forward Landon Smith had a big game for the ‘Backs that night, scoring a goal and adding two helpers, while his line mate Alex Gilles netted the game-winner. Saturday will be the first and only time Coquitlam fans can watch the league’s top scorer, Smith, before he packs his bags for Qunnipiac University next season. Gilles, who is also in the top 20 in league scoring will play his university hockey at Michigan Tech.
This will be the first game for Express D-man John Saunders, after officially signing on to play for The Royal Military College next season. Saunders joins team mates Adam Rockwood, Ryan Rosenthal, Corey Mackin, Bo and Cannon Pieper, Jace Hennig, Cameron Marks, and Cody Boyd as the 9th Express player committed to play university hockey all over North America, and all of which will be in the Express line-up on Saturday night.
