Coquitlam Express alumni and Ottawa Senator Kyle Turris has signed with Oulun Karpat of the SM-liiga for the duration of the NHL lockout. He joins San Jose defenceman, Jason Demers, as the second NHL to join the Finnish elite-league team. As of Tuesday, 123 NHL players have taken their services to Europe to maintain the sharpness in their game.
Kyle recently signed a 5-year 17.5 million dollar-extension with the Senators, his second NHL franchise. His Finnish contract runs through their 60-game schedule, but allows him to return to the NHL should the lockout end.
