The start of the game was not what the Express had planned going down three goals in the first period including one nine-seconds into the game.
The Express however were not quitting, Mateo Dixon scoring two short handed goals followed by a goal by Ray Hamlin early into the third period to tie the game.
Anthony Carone of the Grizzlies scored on the power play to take the lead but the Express would not quit, Mirko Buttazzoni would score his 16th of the season and that goal would send the game to overtime.
Nothing was solved in overtime, in the shootout the teams would exchange goals until Mateo Dixon would end it.
The Express sweep the weekend on Vancouver Island.
