Hockey Operations staff announced for 2022-2023 season

The Coquitlam Express are pleased to announce their hockey operations staff for the 2022-23 season.

Tali Campbell is entering into his third season as the Express’ General Manager and Chief Operating Officer, and this will be his ninth season in the British Columbia Hockey League.

Patrick Sexton is entering into his first season as Head Coach of the club, as he takes over from Brandon Shaw who accepted a job in the Ontario Hockey Club. Joining Patrick on the bench is Jeff Wagner who enters his second season as Associate Coach and Director of Scouting.

The team is currently accepting applications for Skills Coach and Video Coach as Justin Rai has accepted a job with the Seattle Kraken and Andy Hellweger has accepted a job with the Nanaimo Buccaneers.

Joining the club this year is Kyle Turris who was appointed in August as Special Advisor to the General Manager and Player Development Coach, Turris joins the Express after spending 14 seasons in the NHL.

Ron Veit returns to the club as Director of Goaltending, this is Ron’s fourth season with the team.

The scouting department will be announced in the coming weeks by General Manager Tali Campbell and Director of Scouting Jeff Wagner.

In the medical and equipment roles Gaelle Bergeron returns for a second season as Athletic Therapist and Equipment Manager, along with Jordan Cupit, Assistant Equipment Manager. We also welcome Ibby Ali as the club’s new Strength and Conditioning Coach.

The Express have entered into a partnership with the following businesses to provide support for the players, Coast Therapy, Manhas Health, and Smiles Unlimited Dental Centre, each business will provide a wide variety of services for the players.

The Player Support team will again be directed by Education AdvisorTom McEvayDirector of Player Assistance, Danny Shepherd; Team Chaplain, Pastor Dan Eagle; and Billet CoordinatorTeresa Battista.  

The season gets started Friday, September 2nd as all players report to Coquitlam.
