Boom! Express 6 – Capitals 2

In front of over 900 fans and the BCHL’s first-ever Pride Night the Express sent the fans home happy with a decisive 6-2 win over the Cowichan Valley Capitals.

Things would remain relatively quiet for the first 10 minutes however the Express would then score three unanswered before the end of the first period, all even-strength goals.  Ray Hamlin would get things going followed by Mirko Buttazzoni and Coco Armstrong.

In the second period the Express would not slow down scoring on the powerplay, first BCHL goal Blake Setter assisted by Tyler Kopff and Gavin Giesbrecht.  The Capitals would get on the board by Ian Kern but the Express would add two more before the end of the period, Coco Armstrong would score his second of the game followed by Tyler Kopff.

The Capitals would keep the Express off the board in the third period and the Capitals would add one but that was all as the Express would take the game 6-2.

Capitals goalie McCoy Bidewell would be pulled after giving up 5 goals on 19 shots, Lukas Renaud would only give up one goal on 10 shots. Brady Smith would stop 14 of the 16 shots he faced in the win.
