Chiefs Leave Coquitlam With A 4-3 Win

The Coquitlam Express played gamed two of their five game home stand Sunday, against the Chilliwack Chiefs. Coquitlam was trying to snap out of a three game slide, taking on a Chilliwack team that they had already beaten twice so far this season.
Early on it was all Coquitlam as the Express built a two goal lead seven minutes into the hockey game. Corey Mackin opened the scoring, notching his 12th of the season with assists from Jace Hennig and Mark Beiga.
One minute and thirty six second later Jace Hennig was at it again, this time on the finishing end of a Corey Mackin pass. Jace Hennig now has 6 goals on the year. Chilliwack then got one back thanks to a late First Period goal by Quentin McShane.
The Express restored their two goal lead 3:36 into the Second Period, with Joey Santucci tip in. Bo Pieper drew the only assist on Santucci's 8th goal this season. Jaret Babych brought the Chiefs to within one scoring shorthanded on Coquitlam goalie Gordie Defiel. Two more goals from Kurt Black and Ben Butcher put Chilliwack on top 4-3 and that's how this one finished. Coquitlam was not able to equalize despite their 52 shots on net.
Your next opportunity to see your Express play comes this Friday, November 1st, when the Alberni Valley Bulldogs come to town. On Time Moving presents the BCHL Food Drive Challenge! Fans can bring non-perishable food donations and receive a free burger, drink and chips courtesy of Joey Coquitlam. BBQ gets underway at 5:30pm followed by a 7:00pm puck drop.
