Come Back Falls Short Against Alberni Valley

The Coquitlam Express came just short of a miraculous come back on Friday night, losing 6-4 to the Alberni Valley Bulldogs. A result in which the Express were unfortunate not to have go their way considering their play in the final two periods.

Bulldog's forward Harlan Orr scored the first two goals of the game coming at 10:25 and 14:56 of the First Period. Moments later Express super rookie Corey Mackin scored his 12th of the year to cut the lead to 2-1 going into the intermission.

Coquitlam really stepped up their game in the Second Period out shooting Alberni Valley 21-6 ; however, bounces were just not going their way. Alberni Valley scored three times against the run of play to take a 5-1 lead. Bulldogs goals came from Justin Georgeson, Ryan Buse, and Hunter Stewart.

The Express came out in the Third Period with even more urgency throwing pucks on the net from all angles. Bo Peiper was the first Coquitlam player rewarded when he chipped home a rebound to make it 5-2. Soon after it was 5-3 when Adam Rockwood, the league's leader in assists, set up Joey Santucci beautifully on a back door tap in. Even though Coquitlam was able to get one more goal from Jackson Cressey, they would fall just short in the end.  The Express out shot Alberni Valley 39 – 14 in the last two periods; however, they would eventually run out of time on the game clock.

Next up, a quick turn around to another home game for Coquitlam against division rivals Surrey on Wednesday November 6th.
