Eagles Halt Express 5-2

The Surrey Eagles were able to take advantage of a shorthanded Express squad in a 5-2 victory on Wednesday night.
The Express were without defensemen Zach Hodder, John Saunders and JD Cotroneo due to suspensions stemming from the Prince George games over the weekend. Captain, Ryan Rosenthal is still out of the lineup with an undisclosed injury.
Surrey jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the 1st Period. Despite being outshot 12-15, the Eagles came away with goals from Darius Davidson, Braeden Russell and Kale Bennett.
Bo Pieper got the Express on the board half way through the 2nd Period, with his 21st of the season. Braeden Russell answered with his 2nd of the night 5 minutes later to restore the 3 goal Eagles’ lead.
Jace Hennig pulled the Express back within 2 goals at the 10:10 mark of the 3rd Period, when he relayed a rebound off the back boards past Devon Fordyce. The Eagles added one more before the end of the game to round out the scoring at 5-2.
Coquitlam returns to action on Friday night in Prince George against the Spruce Kings.
