Express draw first blood in Mainland Series

The Coquitlam Express take game one of the Mainland Division Series with a 4-2 win over the Langley Rivermen on Friday night.

The Express were lead by Cody Boyd who scored two key third period goals and was named the games first star.  Head Coach Barry Wolff says "Boyd played like a real warrior tonight". Wolff says the Express had a total team effort in the win.

The two teams traded goals in the first period as Canon Pieper opened the scoring at 5:56 from Brendan Lamont.  The second period was scoreless.

Gordie Defiel had another strong effort as he stopped 36 shots in recording the win.

Captain Ryan Rosenthal scored the other Express goal after being set up by Joey Santucci and Adam Rockwood. Santucci had two assists and was the games third star.

The two teams are back in action Saturday night for Game two at the George Preston Arena in Langley, the puck drops at 7 pm.
