The British Columbia Hockey League will be on pause this weekend as selected players will be participating in the leagues All-Star Weekend events in Penticton which means the Coquitlam Express are without games until January 27th.
Although the Express are without any games the team has committed to staying busy by being active in the community this weekend with a variety of events with minor hockey and players selected charities
“As an organization we believe it is important that when we get the time, we give back to our community and that is what we are doing,” said Tali Campbell, chief operating officer and general manager of the Express “we will be at hockey rinks across the Tri-Cities cheering on our minor hockey teams along with volunteering at various events.”
Campbell also mentioned each player had to choose a charity they support that they would give back to that charity through volunteering, donating or promoting what the charity they support does.
“It would be easy for us to just say, hey guys everyone do whatever you want this weekend but I don’t think that helps achieve our goal of making our players better young men and making our community a better place.”
The four players that won’t be in town who are representing the Express at the All-Star weekend are Mirko Buttazzoni, Mateo Dixon, Jason Gallucci and Coco Armstrong.
The Express return to game action on January 27th against the Cowichan Valley Capitals
