After a two-game road trip to begin the season, the Coquitlam Express finally take home ice for the first time in the 26-27 season.
Snagging 3 out of a possible 4 points to begin the year has the Express in first place in the Coastal East division, however all four other teams are hot on Coquitlam’s heels.
Tonight Coquitlam take on the Cowichan Valley Capitals, who come fresh off a victory against the Chilliwack Chiefs. Cowichan is a strong team, coached by a Fred Page Cup winning bench boss in Cam Keith.
Capitals netminder Evan Maillet has the best save percentage of any BCHL goaltender who has played more than 120 minutes, and their 5 on 5 attack is superb. However, the Capitals have some of the weakest special teams numbers in the league so far, and Coquitlam will look to ignite a sluggish power play against them.
The Express boast a new addition to the lineup tonight, with Belarussian forward Igor Silchenko making his BCHL debut on the third line.
