Jeff Wagner Appointed Head Coach and Assistant General Manager of the Coquitlam Express

The Coquitlam Express proudly announces the appointment of Jeff Wagner as Head Coach and Assistant General Manager, effective immediately. Wagner’s promotion comes after a successful interim tenure as Head Coach and three years of dedicated service to the club.

Wagner, who joined the Express three years ago, has exhibited exceptional leadership, strategic prowess, and a profound understanding of the game. His invaluable contributions during his time with the team have been instrumental in shaping the Express’ success both on and off the ice.

“We are thrilled to officially name Jeff Wagner as our Head Coach and Assistant General Manager,” said Express General Manager, Tali Campbell. “I have had the pleasure of working with Jeff for the last four years, three with the Express and one year when I was with Nanaimo, and he was with Fernie. His vision aligns seamlessly with our organizational goals, and we have full confidence in his ability to help lead the team.”

During his brief stint as Interim Head Coach, Wagner showcased his ability to inspire players, implement effective strategies, and foster a winning culture within the organization. Under his guidance, the Express took the Alberni Valley Bulldogs to Game 7 of playoffs, and was praised by all players, helping solidify his position as the ideal candidate for the role.

“I’m extremely grateful and excited for the opportunity of being the Head Coach and Assistant GM of the Coquitlam Express,” said Jeff Wagner “Over the last 3 years, I have had great mentors that have helped me adapt to the league and grow as a coach and I’m confident that those experiences have prepared me for this next challenge. My wife Steph, son Brooks and I are all thrilled to extend our time in the Tri-Cities and continue to make positive contributions to our community. I’d like to thank Fayaz and Tali for their trust in me to continue to build this program, develop our players and prepare them for their future on and off the ice, and put ourselves in a position to push for a BCHL championship.”

As Head Coach and Assistant General Manager, Wagner will assume a pivotal role in shaping the team’s roster, implementing strategic initiatives, and cultivating a culture of excellence both on and off the ice. His comprehensive understanding of the game, combined with his proven leadership abilities, positions him as a formidable asset to the Express as they embark on their journey towards success.

The Coquitlam Express extends its warmest congratulations to Jeff Wagner on his well-deserved appointment and looks forward to a prosperous future under his guidance.
