Postgame Thoughts – Coquitlam Express @ Langley Rivermen (9/21/21)

The Express were in Langley Tuesday night to take on the Rivermen and they got the job done, coming out on top with a big 6-3 victory!

These two teams hadn’t seen each other since before the pandemic as the Rivermen did not partake in the POD season back in April.

Understandably, the Rivermen had some rust to shake off and found themselves in a four-goal deficit at the first intermission. Dante Berrettoni led the charge for the Express, potting a pair in the opening frame, one of which was on the man advantage. Berrettoni, the Burnaby native, was buzzing tonight and was particularly effective in tight around the net.

Additionally, 2005-born Ryder McIntosh had himself a big game too, with a pair of goals of his own in the middle period. It was in this 20-minute segment that the Rivermen started to show some life – they potted two goals of their own and gained some energy following a fight between Coquitlam’s Davis Frank and Langley’s Kyle Graham.

For the better portion of the final period, it was all Rivermen and Express goalie, Adam Manji had to stand tall, which comes naturally to the 6-foot-4 Burnaby product. He made some timely saves and ultimately weathered Langley’s desperate push.

The Express are back in action Wednesday evening, with their first home game of the preseason. The remainder of the schedule looks like this:

  • Sept. 22 vs Merritt – 7:00PM
  • Sept. 24 vs Surrey – 7:00PM
  • Sept. 29 vs Langley – 7:00PM
  • Oct. 1 @ Chilliwack – 6:00PM
