It was a packed house at the PSLC Rec Arena. The fans were treated toa physical and up-tempo hockey game that featured a number of BCHL veterans on both sides.
The Kings took a 1-0 lead to the end of the period courtesy of a Lucas Grayson goal. The Express responded in the 2nd period when D-man Mark Biega sprung Nic Beaudin for a breakaway goal with a 130 ft. pass from beside the Express net to the Kings' blueline. The period ended with a late powerplay goal from Kings' forward J.J. Coleshaw. The Express could not muster any offence in the 3rd as Powell River scored a late goal to put the game out of reach.
Next action for the Express is their season opener at the 2013 Bauer BCHL Showcase on September 6th at 4:00pm. All games of the Showcase are played at the Prospera Center in Chilliwack.
