Siemer Earns WCHA Rookie of the Week Honours

Just days after beginnng his NCAA career at Northern Michigan University, former Coquitlam Express and Penticton Vees standout John Siemer has grabbed the attention Western Collegiate Hockey Association officials with his play over the January 17-19th weekend.

Siemer was named the association's rookie of the week after helping the Wildcats to a weekend split with Alaska-Fairbanks. The 5-foot-9, 175-pound native of Baldwin Park, Calif. led the Wildcats with two goals and two assists on the weekend.

In a 5-4 win Friday, Siemer scored his team's fourth goal and was in on each goal in a 4-3 loss the next night. He assisted on his team's first two goals and then scored with the extra attacker as NMU fell just short in it's comeback bid.

Siemer dressed for his first college game on Dec. 12 against North Dakota and has five points in four game since his debut.

In two BCHL seasons, Siemer scored 53 goals and 75 assists for 128 points in 105 games.
