Express Come Home To Face A Familiar Foe

After a trip to the Okanagan on the weekend, the Coquitlam Express return home to face off against divisional rivals, the Surrey Eagles Wednesday night at the PSLC.

By now, these teams are very familiar with each other as this will be their 8th and final matchup of the season. Coquitlam holds the edge in the season series, winning four out of the seven meetings. Meanwhile Surrey was able to come out on top in the most recent encounter with the train, 5-4 in double overtime. Eagles forward Jonah Renouf (13G,28A) was the hero that night scoring the winner after his teammate Nicolas Pierog (26G,12A) was able to tie the game with 1:39 to go in the Third Period. Danton Heinen (18G, 24A), Surrey's leading scorer had 3 points on the night while Express super rookie, Corey Mackin netted two goals.

On the other hand, Coquitlam has had plenty of success offensively versus the Eagles and that trend is expected to continue Wednesday night. In the seven games played against Surrey this season, the Express have averaged 5.1 goals per game, including a nine goal output in their latest matchup played in Coquitlam.

The Express (18-18-1-3) sit in 3rd place in the Mainland Division, four point ahead of Surrey (17-23-1-1) and 16 points up on Chilliwack (10-29-1-3). With a win Wednesday night, Coquitlam will move even closer to solidifying their position, with games in hand on both teams previously mentioned.
