The Coquitlam Express finally were able to solve the Surrey Eagles tonight in a shootout win.
Tyler Kopff would kick things off middle of the first period getting the Express on the board assisted by Evan Brown and Jason Gallucci. The Express would again run into some penalty trouble, two games in a row where Conner Schneider would tie things up at 10:29.
In the second frame the Express would again retake the lead on an early goal by Jason Gallucci, but shortly after the Eagles would tie it back up by Aaron Schwartz.
Before the end of the second period Gavin Giesbrecht would have time in front of the net to put one past Eli Pulver to give the Express the lead.
The Eagles were all over the Express in the third period and were able to tie things up for the third time in the game by a goal by Jake Bongo. Nothing else would happen in the third frame and the game would head to overtime, and furthermore a shootout.
Adam Manji was rock solid stopping both Eagle shooters while both Mirko Buttazzoni and Evan Brown would score to win it for the Express.
Adam Manji for the second game in a row was on fire stopping 26 of the 29 shots he faced.
The Express are back in action Friday, January 13th against the Chilliwack Chiefs.
