Express Get Back On The Winning Track

Nov. 6 – The Express got off to a great start and never trailed as they were 4-3 winners over the Surrey Eagles on Wednesday night at the Train Station at the PSLC.

The Express appeared to be inspired by their pre-game ceremony honouring Canadian Veterans in their last home date before Remembrance day as the Royal Canadian Legion 263 was on hand to present the colours for the National Anthem.

They came flying out of the gate as power play goals from Bo Pieper and Marc Biega were sandwiched around a Corey Mackin goal giving the Express a 3-0 lead after twenty minutes of play.

The second period saw the Eagles claw back as goals from Brent Mulchay and Mitchell Fyffe drew the visitors within one.

The Express stretched their lead to 4-2 as the Fortis BC Energy Player of the game and First Star Joey Santucci scored the winning goal at 15:53 of the third period.  Santucci and Second Star of the game Bo Pieper each had a goal and an assist to lead the Express to victory.

Express Head Coach Barry Wolff says Santucci is a real energy player, "when Joey plays hard, competes for loose pucks and finishes hits, he is very effective and creates open ice for his line mates".

A nine day layoff will see the Coquitlam squad working on more of the same says Wolff. " Our goal is to get better every day and stay the course, we will continue to work on special teams, D-Zone and conditioning".

The Express are back in action on Friday November 15 when they take on their Mainland Division rivals the Langley Rivermen.  The puck drops at 7pm at the Train Station in the PSLC.
