Express Look To Win Two Straight At Home Friday Night

After an impressive 7-2 win over Surrey last night, The Express are right back at it Friday when the Chilliwack Chiefs come to town. The Chiefs are well rested, not having played since Jan 11th.

Coquitlam started off the season with dominant performances against the Chiefs in which they outscoring them 14-6, resulting in two early season wins. In the last two meetings however, Chilliwack has responded nicely, winning 4-3 on Oct 27th and 6-1 on Nov 16th.

Express forwards have had success facing Chiefs net minding this season as Cannon Pieper and Corey Mackin both own hat-trick efforts against Chilliwack and captain Ryan Rosenthal has gathered 7 points in the four meetings. Meanwhile, Chiefs forward Carter Cochrane has also collected 7 points in games versus the Express, including 2 goals and 5 assists. Cochrane leads the team with 34 points this season followed by Mathieu Tibbet (33) and Northern Michigan committed player Zach Diamantoni (29) rounding out the top three.

On the other hand the Express top five leading scorers all have more points than any Chiefs player. They are led by BCHL assist leader Adam Rockwood, who with four helpers against the Eagles last night, now has 8 goals and 46 assists. Behind Rockwood (54), the top five point getters in the Express lineup are Ryan Rosenthal (49), Cannon Piper (45), Bo Pieper (44), and Corey Mackin (40).

Friday’s game will be the first of a home and home between the two teams with the ladder match being played at the Prospera Centre Saturday night in Chilliwack.
